'Thread Not Found' Error When Following a Link to a Forum Thread from a Forum Post

Problem

After following a link to a forum thread from a forum post you are presented with a 'Thread not found' error instead of the thread you expected.

Solution

This problem is generally caused by the editor who made the post neglecting to leave a space after the thread URL. Specifically, it is common to place a period directly after the thread's URL -- signifying the end of a sentence -- which, inadvertently, corrupts the thread URL so that it now ends with a '.'. Thus, the URL refers to a non-existent thread. To access the correct thread simply remove the period from the end of the URL.
